Oh hey you guys.

The nominations are still open at the [livejournal.com profile] sylaire_awards, so go nominate some stuff if you haven't already! I may have even written some Sylaire fic... wink wink nudge nudge.

And thanks to everyone for pimping and nominating at the [livejournal.com profile] heroes_het_fic awards! Way to make more work for me! You guys are too awesome.

Also I've written up these rules for wank prevention. Please keep these in mind while resisting the urge to post during upcoming episodes of whatever it is anyone watches anymore.

[livejournal.com profile] cruiscin_lan's Rules for Wank Prevention

  1. Cut the spoilers
  2. Lock anything that could get ugly, even if it's posted to a community
  3. ???
  4. Profit!!!

On another note, everything I touch turns to angst. I just started working on my [livejournal.com profile] heroes_exchange assignment, and it is not turning out at all like what I think the requester wants. I feel like it's too late to change it now, so maybe I'll post this separately after the exchange and write a whole new fic later. Oh well. I just wish I knew where mah funneh went.

Mayhaps I shall do a poll.

[Poll #1386465]

Once, I wrote in second person future tense.

Once. Never again.

You are the exception that proves the rule!

BRB I'm going to go find your second person future tense fic XD

[identity profile] speccygeekgrrl.livejournal.com 2009-04-20 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
Ahaha, you would never find it without assistance...

it's a) anime fanfic, b) SIX YEARS OLD, and c) I left the anime fic off my fic masterlist for a reason xD But if you want it, there it is.

There should be a Claire genre, *pets her on principle alone*

That all said, I am eccentric, I think.

You could probably consider all characters their own genre, and pairings too - some people will only read fic featuring one character or one pairing.

[identity profile] perdiccas.livejournal.com 2009-04-19 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
My 1st person - depends on the character is actually, 1st person - depends on the author. I somewhat hate the 1st person (for no real good reason, I just arbitrarily dislike it) but some authors I read do it very, very well.

ETA: I also think I might the only person on the internet to dislike humour fic. I'm defective that way ):

No humor fic at all? I don't know. I think some smut is kind of funny... :P

past pluperfect brings back bad memories of French class!! so thank you for that.

and Elle is my favorite genre, because I'll read any Elle pairing at least once (except Bob/Elle. or possibly Hiro/Elle, because that would just be... strange)

[identity profile] superkappa.livejournal.com 2009-04-19 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Does Hiro/Elle exist? How would that even go?

Elle: You stupid little man, why'd you take me to that fucking beach?
Hiro: I am sorry scary girl! I was only ten at the time D:

HAHA rule 34 or whatever: if you can think it, someone has made a porn out of it.

[identity profile] superkappa.livejournal.com 2009-04-20 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
Probably. I think especially with a fandom like Heroes, with so many characters you could pair up.

[identity profile] boombangbing.livejournal.com 2009-04-20 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
Um, hi. :| Hey, it was for prompt. And it pretty much goes the way you said. :D

[identity profile] cruiscin-lan.livejournal.com 2009-04-19 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Si vous plait or whatever!

And now I'm going to go write some Hiro/Elle just to prove you wrong. :P

[identity profile] superkappa.livejournal.com 2009-04-19 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I second the Elle genre. As I do tend to write/read Elle pairings the most.

I like 3rd person omnipresent the best. I like knowing what everyone's thinking. It makes me feel powerful.

Past pluperfect? I suddenly had a huge flashback to my high school Latin classes. Yikes.

If people actually still write in future tense, I want to see it, just because it's such a rarity.

[identity profile] cadesama.livejournal.com 2009-04-20 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
On the POV, I gotta say, it's not just a preference for 3rd person. It's an abiding hatred to 1st and 2rd. I pretty much refuse to read either, particularly not in fanfic, because I feel they're incredibly difficult to do well, and usually just end up pretentious and/or lazy.

And, weirdly, as much as everyone always says present tense is action oriented, it tends to feel very dreamy to me. Past tense is grounded and real, and works very well for action. Present is great for angst or fic that does a lot of telling for the sake of drawing a broader, more artistic picture, IMO.
