My first thought was that it might be a good way for people who prefer to lurk to give a little thumbs-up from the shadows without opening themselves up to replies. But I can't remember off the top of my head if non-lj-types can vote in polls. Also, if it's anon-friendly, that can always lead to abuse. I think a hit counter would be a better idea, overall.
