Absolutely excellent. You've got the Natural Born Killers take-what-we-want-and-play-in-the-blood gleeful darkness and the tenderness of their cockeyed family-making (which I tend to shy away from, because the whole redemption via heteronormative happy ending thing, especially with the message "having a baby will solve all your relationship problems!", squicks the hell out of me, but it kind of works here), and it all hinges on this line: The same thing that drove him to kill, to target people with powers - it was a part of this hunger to be a better man, and internal struggle to be the best of all possible worlds. The other characters all work really well, too--I love your use of Angela's dreams (and her snarkiness), Sandra-the-cuckoo and Lyle-the-forgotten-Bennet, and the on-the-road interactions of the sleuths.
